Feature Film and Documentary Competition

Films for the 15th edition of goEast can be submitted into one of the following categories:
/ International competition of full-length feature films (not shorter than 80 min.)
/ International competition of documentaries (not shorter than 30 min.)
/ Non-competitive film programmes: Highlights, Beyond Belonging, Specials
Eligible for submission are films from the countries of Central, Eastern and Southeast Europe, including the former republics of the Soviet Union.

Experimental Film and Video Art Competition

goEast intends to encourage the work of young and emerging artists of up to 35 years of age, working in or between the fields of experimental film and video art. We ask all filmmakers, artists, producers, galleries and universities from Central and Eastern Europe, the Rhine-Main-region and Kassel to submit their most current works and projects to the goEast – Experimental Film and Video Art Competition.

The submitted works should be current productions from the years 2013, 2014 or 2015. The duration of a work may not exceed 30 minutes. Applications will not be considered complete unless they include a short synopsis, a biography and a filmography of the director/artist.

Up to 10 works will be nominated to contend for the Open Frame Award endowed with 5,000 euros provided by the BHF-BANK Foundation. The 15th goEast – Festival of Central and Eastern European Film will take place in Wiesbaden, Germany, from 22 to 28 April 2015.

EAST-WEST TALENT LAB

The EAST–WEST TALENT LAB addresses students and graduates of directing and producing as well as young filmmakers and artists from Germany and Eastern Europe (excluding Turkey and Greece). Up to 30 places are available each year. Filmmakers and video artists presenting their work within the goEast Experimental Film and Video Art Competition will be admitted to the EAST–WEST TALENT LAB automatically.
Directors must submit a project idea that is not yet in production. Applicants must be aged between 18 and 35. English will be the language of communication at the EAST–WEST TALENT LAB.
