Ballade Through Bullets

Lumi që nuk shteron / Ballade Through Bullets

Albania during World War II. A group of elderly women set out to find a oneyear- old child who was the sole survivor of a German massacre. The infant was saved by three partisans, who paid with their lives. Simple though the story is, Koçi convincingly portrays the physical and emotional extremity underlying the protagonists’ efforts to rescue the child. With dialogue reduced to a minimum, the director subtly concentrates on faces, landscapes, and atmospheres.
