Tabor Uchodit V Nebo / Gypsies Are Found Near Heaven

Based on the early short stories of renowned Soviet writer Maxim Gorky, this poetic period drama interweaves three passionate love stories against the backdrop of a 19th century Gypsy camp on the outskirts of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Golden-haired Yulishka falls in love with the horse thief (and folk hero) Loiko Zobar, but he has already been bewitched by the imperious beauty of Rada, who revels in toying with the desires of men. Her ample charms also seduce Siladi, a high-born nobleman driven mad by her evasive flirtations. These tempestuous emotions burst into the open when the various passions collide in the riveting climax. With rich color photography, charismatic lead performances, and a fascinating glimpse at the life of the Gypsy people, Gypsies Are Found Near Heaven is a rare gem.
