San Sanych / San Sanych

Mother has literally drowned herself in alcohol, father is about to do so, sister is never at home, and auntie is an alcoholic herself… Anyone growing up in this environment doesn’t have a chance. It seems to be different for San Sanych, apparently the only sane person in the insane world that surrounds him. The camera follows him over the period of one year. There are no beautiful pictures, but hard pan shots and breathless moving about from one place to another. Everything seems fragmented, nothing coherent or composed. In his first documentary, telling the classical coming-of-age-story, the young film-maker convinces with an undisguised look at the reality of a country that is scarcely mentioned in our media.
