Project Presentation: Moveast Workshop

PRESENTATION: MOVEAST WORKSHOP
Moveast Workshop is an international film-culture project aiming to compile a new, comparative history of film in Central and Eastern Europe. Such an endeavour seems highly relevant in view of the economic, political and cultural parallels persisting in the countries of the region even after the collapse of the Soviet Union, regime changes, and the onset of European integration. That the post-communist nation-states continue to be regarded as one region is spectacularly reflected in the area of film production. Comparative analysis of the region’s film culture has the potential to show connections both within and outside the world of film while simultaneously throwing light on the past and present of Central and Eastern Europe. The lecture will be delivered by Iván Forgács, expert in Eastern European film and member of the 2014 goEast Jury.
