HIGHLIGHTS

Although mainstream films and box-office hits from Central and Eastern Europe rarely find their way onto cinema screens in Germany, the situation is different at goEast. This year’s Highlights section includes three productions that played to packed houses in Poland, the Czech Republic and Estonia. One is the story of a man with a physical handicap who fights for a better life, the next a thriller about an ice-cold mafia boss, the third about the love between a shy postwoman and the village drunk.
